In 2006 the Society made a major commitment to growing its base of student members. We strongly believe that today’s students are not only the future of our Society, but also the future of our important field. ISIAQ should play a major role in nurturing student enthusiasm, and developing future leaders, in our field.
In response, major strides have been made to expand student participation in ISIAQ. We have lowered student membership fees substantially, implemented an exciting new ISIAQ student awards program (for outstanding student paper and outstanding student performance), and increased student programs at key conferences. Student membership in ISIAQ has increased from 8 when the current Board of Directors took office in June 2006 to 60 as of this writing. Student members hail from universities in 15 different countries, 10 countries in Europe, plus Japan, the United States, Taiwan, Australia, Brazil, and Singapore. Student registration for Indoor Air 2008 approaches 200 attendees, and many of these students are expected to further expand student membership in our Society.
Central to our commitment to students has been the promotion and initiation of a formal Student Section of the Society. The Student Section was formed in Copenhagen at Indoor Air 2008, and it allows students a formal voice in the Society and many opportunities for networking amongst themselves, with faculty around the world, and with prospective employers. The Student Section of the newly developed ISIAQ website will also feature the job posting management system by for students and for our corporate members to facilitate the growth of research employments in the areas of indoor air quality and climate. This will benefit the student members and the Society as a whole.
Important activities related to the new student section will be featured in this section of the ISIAQ website. We encourage you to visit often in the coming months and years to read about what our students are doing. They are the future leaders of our field. Send your news and informational items to the ISIAQ Secretariat

Student Conference Support Awards for Healthy Buildings 2017 Conferences
Attending an ISIAQ conference (Indoor Air/Healthy Buildings) is a cornerstone activity in ongoing graduate school research. It allows you to present your progress, receive the latest updates on research by others, meet new contacts and get together with peers. This, of course, is mutually beneficial! Attending a conference does require a financial commitment which not always is available to students. Click here
