Research Scientist II (Physical/Engineering Sciences) Postition

Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Research Scientist Supervisor II (Physical Engineering Sciences), the RS II, plans, organizes, and directs scientific research studies related to indoor environmental quality or environmental health science. Percent of Time Functions 30% Conducts original research studies on the causes, effects and prevention of indoor air pollution, develops collaboration with researchers and staff within the Department and other State agencies, as well as University of California and federal agencies, writes peer-reviewed reports and articles for publication in professional journals. 20% Develops technical solutions to implement state policy options on indoor air pollution control and health risk reduction related to indoor pollution. 15% Provides technical assistance to state, local, and non-governmental agencies on IAQ issues. Prepares and gives oral presentation at meetings of professional societies and stakeholder groups. 10% Develops technology and testing methods related to indoor air pollutant measurement and control. Designs and fabricates necessary instrumentation. 10% Provides specialized technical information within the Department on matters related to building ventilation and IAQ, including legislative analyses, strategic planning, and fiscal & economical impacts. 10% Provides technical outreach and assistance to the general public on indoor air quality issues. 5% Performs other duties as required. -----HOW TO APPLY: Interested applicants must submit a completed Standard Application (Std. 678) to: Department of Public Health Environmental Health Laboratory Branch 850 Marina Bay Parkway, G365, Richmond, California 94804-6403 Attn: Meralda Rafol ------- WHO SHOULD APPLY: Qualified candidates must have eligibility for State employment, be in a reachable rank on an employment certification list for this classification, a former state employees who can reinstate into this classification, have transfer eligibility to this classification or currently be in this classification.
