ISIAQ's Annual General Meeting - 6 June 2011
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of ISIAQ was held on June 6th in Austin, Texas, at the Austin Convention Center. It was held during the Indoor Air 2011 conference held from June 5-10, 2011, at that location. More than 100 members were in attendance.
A brief overview of the Society's activities during the past year was presented by ISIAQ President Dr. Richard Shaughnessy (University of Tulsa, USA) followed by the Treasurer's Report presented by Professor Carl-Gustaf Bornehag (Karlstadt University, Sweden). Geo Clausen (Danish Technical University, Copenhagen) presented the Trustees' Report. All of the information is contained in the ISIAQ Annual Report which can be downloaded or read on line (click here).
A general discussion followed the presentations. Ineke Thierauf, representing the Dutch Chapter of ISIAQ, requested more interaction with other chapters and with the ISIAQ Board of Directors. Former ISIAQ Board of Directors member Don Weekes of Toronto, Canada, suggested the possible formation of a North American chapter of ISIAQ. Ms. Thieraulf also suggested that ISIAQ "lobby" for better IAQ.
A question was raised about the change of frequency of ISIAQ conferences in relation to the REHVA Clima 2000 conference series which has been scheduled in the off-year under ISIAQ's past conference rotation of 2 conferences each three years. With the conferences scheduled in alternate years starting in 2014, this will create a direct conflict every 6 years when the Indoor Air 'xx conference and the REHVA conference will both occur in the same year. Under present plans, this will first occur in 2016 and then in 2022.
The next Annual General Meeting will be held during the Healthy Buildings 2012 conference next July in Brisbane, Australia.

Indoor Air 2011, the 12th International Conference on Indoor Air Quality and Climate, held in Austin, Texas, from June 5-10, 2011, was widely acclaimed as a huge success. It was the second largest scientific and professional indoor air conference ever held with over 1,000 participants, 800 papers, and over 160 hours of technical presentations and workshops.. It lived up to its promise to be an exciting and entertaining event.
