Vice President Research - Yuguo Li
Yuguo Li is a Professor at Department of Mechanical Engineering, the University of Hong Kong. Li was a Principal Research Scientist and Team Leader of Indoor Environments at CSIRO Australia between 1997 and 2000. He graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University and Tsinghua University, and received Tech Lic in Heating and Ventilation, and PhD in fluid mechanics from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
He teaches undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses on indoor air quality, built environment and numerical methods. His research interests are in atmospheric environment and energy efficiency with a focus on ventilation (environment aerodynamics), including city ventilation, engineering infection control, building ventilation and energy efficiency. His work led to the findings of the roles played by airflow and ventilation in the 2003 Amoy Gardens SARS outbreak. He was the lead author of the 2009 WHO guideline on natural ventilation for infection control. He also studied Chinese kangs and rural home energy efficiency.
Li also serves as Associate Editor of the ISIAQ official journal - Indoor Air. He also serves as Vice-president, Chinese Society of Indoor Environment and Health (2008-), Board of Directors of Chinese Society of Building Physics (2008-). He is a fellow of ASHRAE and ISIAQ, and received the HKU Outstanding Young Researcher Award in 2003, and the Best Paper Award of Indoor Air Journal 2005-2007 (First Prize) in 2008.
