Laura Oatman is a research scientist with the Minnesota Department of Health Asthma Program.  She has more than 30 years of experience working on indoor environment issues and has conducted research in homes, schools and office buildings.  She has served as a member of numerous US Environmental Protection Agency advisory panels and work groups.

Ms. Oatman’s current responsibilities include environmental issues that affect asthma such as mold, environmental tobacco smoke, dust mites, pests and outdoor air.  Her research focuses on low-cost interventions for environmental asthma triggers commonly found in homes and school buildings.  She received the 2008 National Association of Chronic Disease Directors Program Delivery Award for a successful in-home asthma intervention project. 

Ms. Oatman received an environmental engineering M.Sc. degree from the University of Illinois and is a founding member of the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate.
